Top 5 Wild Bird Feed

Birds are unique creatures. They are warm-blooded vertebrate animals that are born with wings, a beak, and feathers. You may hear them in the early mornings (depending on the season), or you may witness them miles above your head racing the wind. Flying birds wings are molded to provide the proper take off, allowing them to soar.
These creatures have gotten used to their environment by flying, which makes them great hunters. This allows them to easily get away from hungry predators (like cats) and takes them away from life’s often surprising weather. Whether they are rising above the clouds in flight or hanging out at your local park, birds are always looking for their next meal. Another characteristic of birds, similar to squirrels, is that birds are easy to scare and quick to escape, which can make it hard to feed them unless they are absolutely starving.
Even though they are easily frightened when approached, they are some of life’s most graceful and elegant specimens. Yes, even the wild birds.

Along with any life comes a responsibility to support and maintain it. With that being said, proper nutrition is key to a healthy bird.

So, let’s go over the top 5 wild bird feed.

  1. Cracked Corn: Birds love corn and corn gives them a good source of energy. Not to mention, it’s packed with nutrients and it’s also a good source of essential vitamins. Birds just about live for corn and for good reasons too!
  1. Black-Oil Sunflower Seed: These are high in fat, so it gives the birds good energy. Seeds are small and thin enough for any size birds to crack open.

  1. Bird Seed Mix: A good seed mix should have a minimum of 8 seed mixes. You can mix it to allow the birds to have a good source of nutrition and to have a good variety to choose from.

  1. Suet Nugget: These are easily digestible and are made of fats from meats, seeds, worms, etc. Suet Nuggets offer a powerful energy boost for those winter months when wild birds need it most. In the spring, it is good for the young birds that need energy.

  1.  Peanuts. Are a good year-round source of protein and energy. However, when feeding these nuts, make sure to use a mesh feeder so that the young ones don’t choke on the whole ones. Mesh feeders allow birds to take bits of the whole nut and serve or eat it without hazards.

Birds are a delight to watch and are peaceful, so let’s do our part when feeding and give them healthy and good amounts of wild bird feed nutrition to ensure good health and long life.
